2 Prophets
Ok I finally turned in my last project for my class, The Bible as Literature. For our final project we were able to choose between two projects, a paper or a creative project. Of course I chose the creative. I chose the prophet Joseph of Egypt and Moses. I could basically do whatever I wanted to do. I chose to interpret their faces and each of their journeys as prophets of God. For Joseph that you see up above I chose a more ethnic face and decided to use charcoal pencils because I thought it would create more shadow and make their faces look real. I chose a more innocent face. Behind him are 7 circles to represent the 7 years of famine and harvest that he interpreted in the Pharoah's dream, and inside each circle is something that defines his life. The last circle represents his genealogy of Abraham and the promise God gave to his family. I love each of these paintings and drawings because I am a huge fan of mixed media and I haven't drawn in a long time so it was fun to get back into it again.
This one is Moses. This one is my favorite because I love how I was able to capture his curious, strong face. But that showed also a somewhat shy timid personality. The sayings which you can't read I put 10 of them for 10 commandments and each one says something about his life as a prophet. They are going away from his face because his brother was the one who did the speaking for him many times. And the swarms of flies are to represent the plagues. I hope you all like these. I ended up giving them to my professor. He was very excited about them! ENJOY!

Sam The Lamb
I am not the biggest fan of this one. Michael likes it and so does James. He says it is his favorite. The painting is after his stuffed animal that he used to love when he was a pipsqueak and we named it Sam the Lamb. The moon turned out kind of dumb because it looks like a "C". Besides that it is all for fun and practice. I have a craft show coming up in two weeks so I will see if some of these paintings will sell there. Wish me luck!

My swinging monkey
I never thought my journey of painting would be so difficult. I am having to get better at my drawing skills first because my proportions have been a little off. It took me a long time to get this monkey right. The arm still is a little longer than I would have liked but for now I think it will do. I do like the tree and the polka dots and the colors, I know my skill for color hasn't gone totally away. I do have to say that this one was Austin's favorite, he is really into monkeys right now. I hope you all enjoy! Please tell me what you think of this one.

Striped Tiger Kitten
Another painting! I hope you all like it. I don't like this one as much as the other two. You can't really see the detail. I stippled this painting. Stippling is making tons of little dots all over to make an object. So if you look close you can see how long it took me to do this painting. I also used paper again. I don't know what my deal is with paper. I just seem to like the texture and the colors mixed together next to the paints. My next painting I have already started and it is of a monkey swinging from a tree. I think this one will be my favorite because I have two monkeys already at home!

The Frog's Lilly Pad
This painting was fun. I love realistic things and abstract things put together in a painting. It makes for wonderful contrast. I painted the frog first and then put the circles in later. I wanted to incorporate this paper that I found some how. I love the colors on the paper very natural and earthy and so I thought I would make it a representation of lilly pads, and so to make it look like the frog was hopping around on some abstract lilly pads. It was a lot of work I messed up a few times but I like to say "I like how it turned out". Let me know what you think.
Glitter Garden
Ok, I have started an artist blog. I love reading about other artist's creations and their blogs and I wanted to share mine with others. I have started painting again and love it. A couple of months ago I picked up my acrylics and paint brushes and I haven't stopped. I decided to do children's decor paintings, start out simple and then work my way to realistic paintings again. I love collage paintings and so I have incorporated some paper into it, the lady bugs and the butterfly was done on cardstock and I colored them with colored pencils and then decopaged them on. Let me know what you think!
